ONE BASIC AND SIMPLIFIED FORM OF FAERIE RING CEREMONY

FOR FERAFERIA

All celebrants assemble in the East. Facing the Ring, they make the Sign of the Phytala while singing Magic Maiden.

OPEN THE ASTRAL DOORS OF THE Ring. The same celebrant opens and later closes the Doors.

An opening verse:

Moon Door, Moon Door,

Door of Alder, bound with Willow,

Open now, revealing Night,

and fiery stars,

and silvery moon,

and demiurgic Dark!

Sun Door, Sun Door,

Oaken Door, bedecked with Holly,

Open now, revealing Day,

and azure Airs,

and golden Sun,

and archetypal Light!

THE ASTRAL DOORS OF THIS GREAT NATURE TEMPLE NOW BE OPEN!

Try to sense the transformation which the Ring area undergoes when the Astral Doors are opened.

ENTER THE RING one at a time between Oimelc (North-East) and Ostara (East). Try to sense the transformation which you and your companions undergo when you step across the boundary ditch and enter the Ring.

All circumambulate deosil at least once. Female and male alternate in line. Chanting, humming, soft music are in order.

OPEN AND LIGHT THE MENHIRS, AND INGATHER THE LANDSCAPES.

Use music to accompany these doings, whenever possible. Mudras and/ or miming gestures may also be used.

INVOKE THE GREAT FAYS OF THE CARDINAL POINTS

An invocational form:

ANTHEIDES, Great FLOWER Fays of the EAST, DAWN, and SPRING, join us here and now in the Faerie Ring between Worlds. Through the Portal between Moon and Sun, return into your Earth abodes from the far Faerieland of Stars.

ARIADNES, Great FRUIT Fays of the SOUTH, NOON, and SUMMER, join us…(as above)

HESPERIDES, Great LEAF Fays of the WEST, EVENING, and AUTUMN, join…

HYADES, Great BRANCH Fays of the NORTH, MIDNIGHT, and WINTER, join…

Music, percussive effects, and dramatic vocal intonations may be used to lend majesty and power to these invocations.

INVOCATION of the four Elementals and the Cosmic Tree (Korythalia). The sign of the Phytala followed by the KORE Incantation.

SPECIFICS OF THE OCCASION, at and around the center:  (These vary according to need.)

Charges, charms, musings, and so on, for the Season, Tree Month, Day (including Enactments and Enchantments), Solstice or Equinox (if any), Wildrealm, and others.

Praises and thanks, including all offerings to the Goddess.

Dedication to Hierosgamos, Sacred Marriage. Other dedications.

Prayers and petitions.

(Music and dance, gesture and mime, may be used to accompany and enrich all of the above. Incense should be used, as well as any other appropriate props, such as candles, stangs, wildercharms, masks, headdresses, and so forth.)

LEAVE THE RING one at a time between Ostara (East) and Beltane (South-East).

Circumambulate deosil at least once before leaving. Female and male may alternate in line. Music, song, chant, dance gesture are all in order. Make an effort to notice transformations in yourself and your companions when you step across the boundary ditch and leave the Ring.

CLOSE THE ASTRAL DOORS of the Ring.

A closing verse:

Sun Door, Sun Door,

Oaken Door, bedecked with Holly,

Close now upon the Day,

and azure Airs,

and golden Sun,

and archetypal Light!

Moon Door, Moon Door,

Door of Alder, bound with Willow,

Close now upon the Night,

and fiery stars,

and silvery moon,

and demiurgic Dark!

THE ASTRAL DOORS OF THIS GREAT NATURE TEMPLE NOW BE CLOSED!

Again, try to notice transformations of the Ring area as the Astral Doors are closed.

All make the sign of the Phytala again while singing Magic Maiden.

JOYOUSLY SHARE THE BOUNTY OF THE GODDESS.

All ecstatically circumambulate deosil (outside the Ring), and in forms of wildermaze play, broadcast and bestow the bounty upon faerie spirits, wildlings, landscape, and each other.

EVOE KORE! EVOE KOUROS! AWIYA!
